Going to London

Well... it’s begun! After last night’s rapid packing effort I think I’ve got too much stuff... I also didn’t sleep very much. Oops. As I write I’m sat on the National Express train from Leeds to London... I’m wearing my ‘traveller trousers’ (lightweight, easy to wash...but not v. cool) and sandals... it’s good to be reunited with the backpack. Feeling a little bit uneasy about the trip ahead – mainly due to lack of planning. However, having looked around on the web last night it seems that the journey could turn out a lot easier than expected... there may be buses all the way down! I’ve also heard that Freetown is the rainiest place in the world in August, so that’ll be interesting...

Night before

Wowza.

I'm back on blogspot after 13 months off. Last time it was a solo trip - maternal health research in India - this time it's a trip with Steve Halpin, my Leeds housemate of 5 years... we're going to do some medical studenting and researching in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

And we're making a bit of a meal out of getting there... by land, somehow.

The journey begins in 4.5 hours when a taxi will beep outside my house.

Off we go.
